A Contractors Health & Safety Assessment Scheme (CHAS) compliant suppler, meets acceptable standards of health and safety; threshold standard or core criteria. Members of CHAS can assist contractors by demonstrating a level of compliance with health and safety law (to assess competence) and by avoiding duplication by reducing the need to submit multiple Health and safety questionnaires to clients. This overcomes inconsistency in assessments with regard to compliance.
